4 Tips for Your Healthiest Skin
By: Carlie Zervan- Mlive

One of the first things that we notice about another person is the quality of their skin. In today’s society our faces can be out there at any time for the world to see. It’s no wonder that according to feelunique.com, Americans spend more than 38 billion dollars on cosmetics and skin care in one year! From the frustrations of pre-teen pimples to the fear of forming wrinkles, skincare is important at every age.

The skincare experts at the Centre for Plastic Surgery have a few tips that you should incorporate into your daily skincare routine:

1. Protect your skin from the sun. Sunscreen isn’t just for the beach anymore. Why? You’re still exposed to damaging ultraviolet rays through windows and clouds. Even our cell phones can emit damaging rays! Many moisturizers and foundations contain sunscreen, which can be an easy way to arm your skin without adding extra products to your routine. Want to take it a step further? To be confident that you are fully protected using an advanced light weight sunscreen with antioxidants under make up is best. You’ll get both the protective benefits of an adequate sunscreen and antioxidant support as well. Adding even one advanced skincare product to your routine can make a big difference!
2. Wash your skin properly. Water alone isn’t going to do the trick. You need something that will clear oily residue and the dirt that clogs pores. Liquid cleaners and cleansing creams have properties that help dissolve dirt. Steer clear of regular soap, it will affect the pH balance of your skin and can cause itching, redness and dryness. Consult a skincare expert to determine if you are using the right kind of cleanser for your skin.
3. Sleep well. The best key to not looking tired? Not being tired! Eliminate dark circles and under eye bags by getting enough rest. There isn’t an under eye cream that can replace a good night’s rest.
4. Stay Hydrated. Our skin is an organ and its cells are mostly made up of water. When these cells do not get enough water our skin is likely to become dry, flaky and more prone to wrinkles. If staying hydrated is an issue, using products that contain Hyaluronic Acid molecules can help. Hyaluronic Acid is a natural “water loving” substance found in the skin. It acts as the body’s natural hydrator holding in moisture for healthy, resilient skin. Products with HA will provide an instant smoothing effect and work throughout the day to keep your skin looking plump and healthy.
Though you can follow these suggested tips, sometimes they are not enough! The Pure Skin team at the Centre has undergone extensive training to bring their clients the most comprehensive treatment plans. With a variety of treatments from chemical peels, to facials, and even injectable options they have everything you need to achieve healthy youthful glowing skin.
