Searching for a minimally invasive facial treatment that pretty much does it all? Then microneedling might be right for you!
Microneedling is a popular treatment at the Centre for Pure Skin in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It aims to enhance overall skin appearance and combat visible signs of aging. By stimulating the skin's natural healing response, microneedling restores lost collagen and elastin, resulting in healthier and more youthful-looking skin. An increasing number of patients are discovering that microneedling can serve as an effective alternative or complement to facial injections and other treatments. Unlike more invasive anti-aging procedures like lasers, microneedling offers noticeable results with minimal downtime. Patients can expect to resume their normal activities within 24-48 hours, and most microneedling treatments are safe for all skin types and pigments.
The ideal candidate for microneedling is over the age of 18, has mostly healthy skin, and is interested in an overall improvement in the skin’s appearance without a long recovery period.
Microneedling can be used to target fine lines and wrinkles all over the face, neck, and decolletage. Patients may notice a smoother appearance in just a few treatments.
Microneedling can help to even out your skin tone — especially if excessive redness is an issue. It can also help to smooth a rough and bumpy skin texture.
Time and gravity aren’t always friendly. Skin often shows its age with frustrating sagging and increased pore size. The boost of collagen synthesis from microneedling can help to improve skin laxity before it becomes a major concern and reduce the appearance of large pores.
From sun damage to melasma and acne scars, microneedling can help heal damaged skin and fade the look of discolorations and scars.
Microneedling can be a terrific treatment for maintaining the look of youthful and radiant skin long term, especially in the early 30s.

First, you’ll visit our Grand Rapids office for an initial consultation. We’ll listen to your concerns, determine if this is the right treatment for you, walk you through your microneedling options, establish expected outcomes, create a treatment plan, and talk about pricing. All microneedling packages include a specially formulated regimen of products in the cost of your procedure. Your technician will help you to understand the products and how to use them at this time.
On the day of your procedure, you’ll be scheduled for about an hour or so. We’ll be taking photos for your medical record and preparing you for treatment. Since microneedling is performed by creating a controlled wound with tiny needles, a topical numbing cream will be applied to make you more comfortable. Some patients may elect to include PRP (platelet rich plasma). If PRP is a part of your treatment plan, a small amount of your blood will be drawn by one of our medical staff into a tube (much like a blood draw for a lab sample).
Microneedling is considered to be a non-invasive treatment, but some patients find it to be pretty uncomfortable. Most will describe a warm, prickly, scratching sensation with some areas being more sensitive than others. After the treatment is completed, the skin may look very red and inflamed. This is called erythema, and it’s a completely normal part of the treatment. It may also feel “overheated” for several hours. You’ll be given special instructions on how to help dull this sensation. The warmth and redness is temporary and will subside within a couple days following treatment.
