George Bernard Shaw once said, “You don’t stop laughing when you grow old, you grow old when you stop laughing.” So by all means, keep laughing and enjoy this journey we call life! Though our laughter and smile displays our inner beauty, it often leaves behind signs of aging. Over time our smiles, smirks, frowns and scowls inevitably affect the volume and surface of our skin, resulting in a less youthful appearance as we age. At the Centre for Pure Skin, we are here to help you age gracefully and beautifully. One way to reverse the signs of time is through the use of cosmetic dermal fillers. By using dermal fillers, we can restore volume and tackle those smile lines so you can laugh in the face of old age.

If you are hoping to restore fullness to your face, enjoy plump lips, enhance contours or soften smile lines and wrinkles, dermal fillers may be the answer you have been looking for.

Dermal fillers have been called “liquid facelifts” because they offer many of the benefits of a surgical facelift without the downtime. Cosmetic dermal fillers can add volume and provide immediate results, lasting anywhere from six months to a few years. At the Centre for Pure Skin, we offer many different types of dermal fillers , and quite honestly it can be a bit overwhelming to determine which ones will be the best fit for your particular needs. But no need to worry, we have that covered for you. During your initial consultation, our Facial Aesthetics Consultant, Diane, will discuss your goals with you and recommend one, or a combination of treatments to achieve your desired results. If you are on the fence about scheduling a consultation, the following overview may help you determine which types of dermal fillers could work for you.

Juvederm® Collection of Dermal Fillers

The Juvederm® Collection of injectable fillers are a new generation of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers that restore your skin’s volume and smooth away facial folds. The most common areas treated with Juvederm® fillers include the cheeks, smile lines, small vertical lines above the lip and the lips themselves. Over time, age-related volume loss can cause your cheeks to flatten and the skin to begin sagging. Juvederm ® Voluma XC is used to add volume back into that area, resulting in a fuller, more contoured cheek area. As our skin loses its elasticity due to genetics, environmental factors and sun exposure, many of us start to notice smile lines and folds around our nose and mouth. You may have heard them referred to as parentheses of the face. These lines can be significantly reduced by filling them with Juvederm ® Ultra XC , showcase your smile without the parentheses. Perhaps you are starting to notice little lines creep in around your mouth, or your lips don’t seem to be as plump as they used to. Juvederm Volbella® XC is a great option to add back volume to the lips and smooth away those fine lines around your mouth. You can lift, smooth, and plump your way to results that typically last for around one year or longer. With the options that the Juvederm® Collection of fillers provide, you’ll achieve a result that everyone will notice but can’t quite put their finger on.

Restylane® Line of Dermal Fillers

The Restylane® line of dermal fillers works similar to the ones mentioned above, providing natural-looking results in multiple areas of the face as well as hands. Restylane® fillers smooth away facial wrinkles and folds around the mouth and chin, provide subtle lip enhancement, add youthful lift and volume to the cheeks, as well as address volume loss in the back of hands. Restylane® contains hyaluronic acid in the form of a crystal clear gel which is safely injected into the skin to lift the lip, wrinkle or fold. Once in the skin, Restylane® works together with your body’s own hyaluronic acid and joins forces to restore volume. At the Centre for Pure Skin, our expert injection specialists will carefully and skillfully select the Restylane® product or products needed to create the look you desire. If you are looking to soften the appearance of facial wrinkles, or add volume to lips or deep tear troughs, we would recommend using Restylane® dermal filler. Restylane® Lyft is used to add volume and fullness to a visibly “sagging” midface, wrinkles between the nose and mouth and the back of hands. If you don’t feel that a surgical face lift is necessary for you at this point, but you still need a little pick-me-up, Restylane® Lyft may be just what you are looking for.

Perhaps you are a very expressive person, and are concerned that dermal fillers will look unnatural, restricting you from your normal facial expressions. Restylane® Refyne and Defyne uses a unique technology giving you just the right amount of lift, while maintaining natural movement while smiling, frowning and even puckering up. Speaking of puckering up, maybe you have noticed some unwelcome lines forming on or around your lips due to smooching, sipping, sunning and smiling. Restylane® Silk is the ideal dermal filler to smooth those vertical lines and give you natural-looking fuller lips. Our highly trained injectionists will know which combination of Restylane® dermal fillers to use in order to provide a smooth, refreshed natural-looking appearance.

Sculptra® Aesthetic Dermal Filler

Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, Sculptra® Aesthetic is a poly-L-lactic acid-based treatment. It works with your body to revitalize its collagen production, helping to restore your skin from the inside out. As we age, we gradually lose collagen which weakens our skin’s inner structure and elasticity. This leads to fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of volume. The difference between Sculptra® Aesthetic and the hyaluronic acid fillers discussed earlier is Sculptra® addresses the decreased collagen loss or skin structure, rather than “filling” the actual lines, wrinkles and folds seen on the surface. Because of this, it works gradually over the course of 3 or 4 treatments, producing results that emerge over time. Some prefer Juvederm® or Restylane® fillers because they like the immediate results, while others like Sculptra® since the results appear more gradually and last longer. Hyaluronic acid fillers are expected to last up to 18 months, whereas Sculptra can last more than two years. Sculptra Aesthetic® works to replace lost collagen, gradually correcting smile lines, other facial wrinkles and lost volume. The result is a more youthful looking appearance without making you look like you’ve had work done.
